Many of us have not just becomes domesticated by wheat. We are now domesticated my so much more – our phones, bags, homes, cars, jewelry, and our money. We must work every day to afford a lifestyle that is only available if we go to work many hours per week.
We work so hard to make money to buy things that require us to work harder to enjoy those very things that we have no time for because we have to keep working so hard. The more we buy and the more we own and the more our lifestyle grows, the less freedom we have because we must maintain this increased standard of living.
Freedom really comes from simplifying. It comes from living well below our means. It means purging the things we are no longer using or even considering spending time with just the basics.
